A fire in the 1000 block of Kinney Street in the city's Carver neighborhood severely damaged a one-story home around noon.

Neighbors said the home had been vacant for about a year but had been frequented by intruders.

The fire was reported about 11:45 a.m. and was fully engaged when fire units arrived at noon.

Fire officials said the blaze was contained to a single home, but adjacent units may have incurred smoke damage and damage from efforts to fight the fire.

Fire officials said the fire was contained about 12:30 p.m.
