Former Citadel play-by-play announcer David Q. "Robby" Robinson has joined the Virginia Commonwealth University athletics staff as associate athletic director for sponsorships and broadcast services.

His most visible task: replacing Terry Sisisky as the play-by-play radio voice of VCU men's basketball program.

Robinson, 33, has been director of broadcasting for The Citadel Sports Network since June, 2000. He served as the Bulldogs' play-by-play voice for football, basketball and baseball.

Rams athletic director Norwood T. Teague called Robinson, a University of Virginia graduate and former Cavaliers baseball player, "one of the finest professionals I have been associated with."

Said Teague: Robinson "brings a unique and dynamic skill set. We are privileged to have him on board."

Sisisky, the voice of the Rams for 28 seasons, retired earlier this year.
