Michelle Obama shared a stage this afternoon with six hand-picked military spouses in Norfolk as the campaign announced the formation of “Blue Star Families for Obama.”
She wove details of her husband's plan to support military families into the conversation with the spouses. The wives talked about inadequate child care on bases, education opportunities for children and health care. The event was this afternoon at Old Dominion University in Norfolk.
Michelle Obama listened intently and told the speakers that if Barack Obama is elected president, she will continue these conversations in relaying their concerns to her husband.
"To you, it may feel like it's just your stories, but it is so important to be out there having this conversation," she said.
Earlier this morning, Michelle Obama spent time talking about the Olympics with a group of children at a Lion's Club child care center in Norfolk.
Tonight, she heads to Harrison Opera House in Norfolk for a fundraiser with Gov. Timothy M. Kaine and his wife, Anne Holton.
