Samuel J.T. Moore III walked out of Richmond City Jail today, 29 days after beginning his 60-day sentence.

Moore, 44, left the jail about 9:30 a.m., ending a saga that began when he was arrested five months ago in his home above Club Velvet, a strip club in Shockoe Bottom that was under investigation by a local, state and federal agencies.

He served just under half of the 60-day sentence handed down by Richmond Circuit Judge Beverly W. Snukals on June 26. He had accepted convictions on three misdemeanor charges stemming from a sexual encounter with a 17-year-old girl and her 18-year-old friend in his video-wired apartment above the club.

Moore avoided trial on two felony charges from video taken of the sexual encounter. Richmond prosecutors agreed to withdraw the charges of producing child pornography and unlawfully filming sex with a minor as part of an agreement with Moore.

Richmond prosecutors do not expect to bring further charges stemming from an investigation that culminated in an early morning search of Moore’s club and residence Feb. 24.

But a federal grand jury is still considering evidence seized in the raid, including financial documents, and the Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control is still conducting an administrative investigation.
