Obama holds narrow Va. lead, poll finds

Sen. Barack Obama maintains a two-point lead over Sen. John McCain in Virginia, according to a new survey from a pollster based in North Carolina.

Obama led McCain 46 percent to 44 percent, according to the survey by Public Policy Polling. Obama led 47-45 in the company's June survey of Virginia voters.

In Virginia's contest for the U.S. Senate, former Gov. Mark R. Warner leads former Gov. Jim Gilmore 57 percent to 32 percent, according to the survey.

Public Policy Polling surveyed 1,327 likely voters from July 17 to July 20. The margin of error is plus or minus 2.7 percentage points.
