A shooting in Petersburg on Friday night may have stemmed from a dispute between a 20-year-old man and another person over wheel rims, police said.

The victim was shot by someone in a vehicle described as a blue Chevrolet Caprice in the parking lot of a gas station at Halifax Street and Virginia Avenue, said Petersburg police spokeswoman Esther Hyatt.

He was shot twice in his legs and was treated at Southside Regional Medical Center. His injuries were not considered serious, Hyatt said.

A 50-year-old man who also was shot remained in critical but stable condition yesterday at VCU Medical Center, Hyatt said.

Police were called to the scene As of yesterday no arrests had been made, but police were following leads in the case, Hyatt said.

Anyone with information about the shootings is urged to call Crime Solvers at (804) 861-1212.
