A construction worker was robbed at gunpoint this morning in Richmond on his way to work.

Richmond police said the worker was not injured but was robbed of $250 about 6:30 a.m. on Chamberlayne Avenue near Gilpin Court. Two men approached him and asked for a cigarette, and when he reached into his pockets, they demanded money, police said.

The victim called to report the robbery when he arrived at work at the Carpenter Center at Sixth and East Grace streets.
