The MetLife Foundation recently awarded a grant of $2,500 to Children's Home Society of Virginia in recognition of the accomplishments of John L. Jack Williams, a MetLife associate who volunteers with the organization.

Williams is one of 15 associates across the United States selected to receive a MetLife Volunteer Service Award.

Established in 1994, the award honors associates who have made a difference in their communities through volunteer work.

MetLife and its associates have a long history of community involvement, said foundation President Sibyl Jacobson.

For raising his voice on behalf of those without a voice and for demanding the highest possible standards from CHSVA, we are continually grateful for Jack's involvement with our agency, said Nadine Marsh-Carter, president and CEO of Children's Home Society of Virginia.

Williams joined the board of Children's Home Society of Virginia in 1968 and remained an active member until 1987. He was board president from 1975 through 1976. In recognition of his services to the agency, he became an honorary director in 1987. Williams continues to serve Children's Home Society of Virginia as chairman of the Children's Home Society Memorial Fund board of directors. His family commitment to the agency began in 1900 when his great-grandfather was a founding board member of the agency.
