Alleged Civil War shell thief in court

PETERSBURG -- A Chester resident is scheduled to appear in Petersburg General District Court today on three felony charges alleging he stole a Civil War artillery shell that had been embedded in a downtown brick building.
Timothy Clary, 49, is charged with destruction of property, grand larceny and the use of explosives.
Police said the owner of the building was driving by on Saturday, saw a man on a 40-foot ladder and called police.
