A suspected road rage incident on Interstate 95 will bring two men, one of them the head of the Richmond teachers' union, to court Thursday.
A state trooper stopped the drivers on Interstate 95 Wednesday morning after seeing them trying to cut one another off. Both drivers -- Wade Ellegood, 52, and Edward C. Doyle III, 30 -- were charged with misdemeanor assault and reckless driving, Virginia State Police Sgt. Tom Cunningham said.
The incident occurred about 10:30 a.m. between the Boulevard and Belvidere Street exits in Richmond.
Ellegood, who is president of the Richmond Education Association, said he regrets chasing a driver who he said scraped his vehicle while passing him in the left shoulder of the interstate.
"I should have taken an extra second to think about what I was doing," Ellegood said. "I'm going to take this as a learning experience." David Ress
