Brunswick County authorities are looking for two Baltimore men in connection with a double homicide in that rural county touching the Virginia-North Carolina line.
James Burrell and Richard Trafton Jr., both 23, are being sought in the shooting deaths of two men from Brodnax, in Brunswick near the Mecklenburg County line. Both are considered armed and dangerous.
Two Brodnax area men, one from the Brunswick side and the other from the Meckenburg side, were fatally shot late Thursday morning in the 100 block of Brodnax Road.
A 911 caller reported that a black Mercedes Benz sedan had crashed into a home and then called back to add that a man was lying facedown in the yard.
Upon arrival, investigators found 25-year-old William Hendricks Jr. dead and discovered a second man dead in the passenger seat of the car, 20-year-old Bryant Lambert.
Both had suffered multiple gunshot wounds to the head and torso.
On Friday, investigators found an ivory 2000 Cadillac sedan abandoned in woods 8 miles from the scene. They believe the vehicle may have been involved in the shootings. Burrell and Trafton are labeled "people of interest" in the investigation.
Burrell is described as a black male, 5 feet 11 inches tall and 225 pounds. Trafton is also a black male, 6 feet 2 inches tall and 300 pounds.
The homicides were Brunswick's first since February 2007.
