Teams of students from two area schools were honored yesterday for making wise hypothetical investments in the stock market.
This spring term, a team from Manchester High School in Chesterfield County turned a $100,000 investment into $158,939 in 10 weeks.
In the fall, Deep Run High School students in Henrico County ended with a portfolio of $147,243 after "investing" $100,000.
Both teams placed second in the Stock Market Game program and were honored during a lunch hosted by the Virginia Council on Economic Education. Teams from Alexandria and Roanoke placed first.
