Three people were arrested this morning in a protest that slowed traffic near a Dominion Virginia Power office in downtown Richmond.

The three were among 15 people who gathered in the 100 block of Tredegar Street to protest Dominion's planned coal-fired power plant in Wise County. A media release said the 15 were members of a group called Blue Ridge Earth First!

Richmond police said the group briefly blocked traffic as Dominion employees drove to work at the company's office at 120 Tredegar St.

Police spokeswoman Karla Peters said the three people arrested were given summonses charging them with impeding public traffic, and they were then released. All three were cooperative, Peters said.
