Chesterfield County police this afternoon were looking for a Petersburg man who authorities said fatally shot a former co-worker early today outside an industrial plant in Chester.

Christopher Tyrone Clagon, 25, of Orange Lane in Petersburg, was being sought on first-degree murder and felony firearm charges in the shooting death of Dell Shawn Wiley, 25, of 10000 block of Ridge Run Road in Chesterfield, said Chesterfield police Maj. Ben Mize.

Police allege that Clagon shot Wiley several times with a shotgun after a 7 a.m. altercation in the parking lot of Pre Con Inc. in the 13700 block of Jefferson Davis Highway.

Wiley, who no longer worked at the plant, was there to pick up his estranged wife, who is a Pre Con employee. Clagon, who also worked there, was romantically involved with Wileys estranged wife, authorities said.

The shooting occurred during a shift change at Pre Con, which sits in an industrial compex south of John Tyler Community College.

Mize said the two men exhanged words in the parking lot, and at one point Clagon retrieved from his car what police believe was a shotgun and fired several blasts at the victim. He was dead when police arrived about 7:15 a.m.

Witnesses saw a gold Chevrolet Impala drive from the parking lot about the time of the shooting, police said. That car was found later parked outside the Orange Lane house in Petersburg where Clagon lived, Mize said.

Mize said investigators searched Clagons house today in Petersburg but he was not there.

Clagon was described as black, 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighing 175 pounds. Anyone with informatiojn about his whereabouts can call Chesterfield police at 748-1251 or Crime Stoppers at 748-0660.
