Morning commuters were slowed near the Powhite Parkway's main toll plaza this morning by firefighters trying to reach two small brush fires.

The fires were reported along the railroad tracks about 7:10 a.m. between the main toll plaza and Forest Hill Avenue.

Firefighters responded to the area but had a difficult time reaching the small piles of brush burning between the parkway's northbound lanes and the railroad tracks.
