The latest car ornament has Del. Lionell Spruill Sr., D-Chesapeake, seeing red. And that's no bull.

At the request of a constituent, Spruill has introduced a bill that would ban the display of ornaments that resemble bull testicles.

It seems some lads are hanging the rubber ornaments, which resemble male genitalia, from their trailer hitches.

Spruill's bill would make displaying the ornaments a misdemeanor punishable by a fine of up to $250.

In an interview, Spruill said he realized he risks making himself a laughingstock. He said he laughed when a constituent brought up the naughty attachment last week.

But then he thought about his 5-year-old granddaughter and how he would respond if she asked him what that was swinging from the trailer hitch.

He has three granddaughters and doesn't want them to be embarrassed, he said.

The ornaments are being sold over the Internet at $24.95 for a rubber model. A brass set costs $49.95. -- Tyler Whitley
