THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

The ups and downs of England's Yorkshire Dales formed the setting for James Herriot's "All Creatures" books and the subsequent TV series.

The area also was the childhood home of John Parker, CEO of Fresh Tracks Travel, making him the logical leader of his company's trip "Hiking The James Herriot Way."

This leisurely Aug. 4-9 trek travels ancient footpaths to the valleys and moors, villages and pubs familiar to fans of the Herriot sagas. The $3,995 fee covers accommodations, some meals (including big Yorkshire breakfasts), luggage transfer, leadership and round-trip transportation from London.

Trans-Atlantic airfare is additional. (800-667-4744; www.freshtracks.com, click on Get The Details at lower left)
