Remove the faded blooms from azaleas.
Healthy plants will reject the old flowers to make way for new growth. However, stressed plants will often hang on to their flowers long enough to produce seeds.
Seed production slows the vegetative growth of the plant growth by delaying or preventing leaves from developing.
By removing your spent flowers promptly, you'll allow your azaleas to produce that lush growth required for next season's blooms.
