Protect young vegetable plants from cutworms.

These pests feed around the base of tomato and pepper plants, cutting them off at ground level.

You can protect your plants by cutting the bottom out of a paper cup and placing it around the stem like a collar.

By burying the collar an inch or so in the ground and leaving a couple of inches above ground, you'll prevent cutworms from getting to your plants.
