Local students graduate from H-SC

Students with ties to the local community were among the 216 men who graduated Sunday, May 11, at commencement exercises marking the end of the 233rd academic year at Hampden-Sydney College.

  • Tyler S. Anderson graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce. He is a graduate of Douglas S. Freeman High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Leonard E. Anderson of Richmond.
  • John MacLean Boswell Jr. graduated with a B.S. in biology. He is a graduate of Fuqua School and is the son of Jack and Lynne Boswell of Burkeville.
  • C. Rodes Boyd III graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce and a minor in rhetoric. He is a graduate of Mills E. Godwin High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. C. Rodes Boyd, Jr. of Richmond.
  • Michael Stephen Brooks graduated with a B.A. in history. He is a graduate of Hermitage High School and is the son of Steve and Mary Brooks of Glen Allen.
  • David Michael Cameron graduated with a B.S. in physics. He is a graduate of Midlothian High School and is the son of Mike and Sherry Cameron of Midlothian.
  • Michael Paul Canfield graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce. He is a graduate of Maggie L. Walker Governor's School and is the son of Earl Allen and Hildegard Canfield of Colonial Heights.
  • Stafford Hendricks Cassell III graduated with a B.A. in English. He is a graduate of Christchurch School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stafford H. Cassell Jr. of Richmond.
  • Andrew Martin Comstock graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce. He is a graduate of Colonial Heights High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John M. Comstock of Colonial Heights.
  • Michael Weldon Copley graduated in absentia with a B.A. in English. He is a graduate of St. Christopher's School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James W. Copley Jr. of Richmond.
  • James Samuel Corey graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce. He is a graduate of Collegiate School and is the son of Catherine Smith and John Corey, both of Richmond.
  • Michael Christopher Eagan graduated with a B.A. in history. He is a graduate of Midlothian High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John G. Eagan Jr. of Owens Cross Road.
  • Gurney W. Grant III graduated with a B.A. in history. He is a graduate of Trinity Episcopal School and is the son of Susan Grant and G. Wingate Grant II, both of Midlothian.
  • Daniel Rogelio Guzman graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce and history. He is a graduate of St. Christopher's School and is the son of David and Maggie Guzman of Denver.
  • William Douglas Hudgins III graduated with a B.A. in psychology. He is a graduate of Douglas S. Freeman High School and is the son of Doug and Brenda Hudgins of Richmond.
  • Nicholas Jackson Junes graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce. He is a graduate of Mills E. Godwin High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Louis J. Junes of Richmond.
  • Joseph Thomas Keeler III graduated with a B.A. in political science and minors in military leadership and national security and public service. He is a graduate of James River High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. J.T. Keeler Jr. of Midlothian.
  • Eric Boehling Lewis graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in philosophy and minors in rhetoric and creative writing. He is a graduate of Benedictine High School and is the son of Scott and Anne Lewis of Richmond.
  • Sean Michael Lindsay graduated magna cum laude with a B.S. in applied mathematics and mathematical economics. He is a graduate of New Kent High School and is the son of Robbie and Terri Lindsay of New Kent County.
  • Andrew Craig Martin graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce. He is a graduate of Atlee High School and is the son of Joan and Craig Martin of Mechanicsville.
  • Franklin Hundley Massie graduated with a B.A. in fine arts-music. He is a graduate of Powhatan High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Frank Massie III of Midlothian.
  • Michael Coulter McCormack graduated with a B.A. in English. He is a graduate of J.R. Tucker High School and is the son of Rebecca McCormack and Brian McCormack, both of Glen Allen.
  • Bryan Robert Melhorn graduated with a B.A. in history. He is a graduate of Douglas S. Freeman High School and is the son of Dr. and Mrs. Steven W. Melhorn of Richmond.
  • Bruce D. Meyer graduated with a B.A. in political science. He is a graduate of Monacan High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen B. Meyer of Richmond.
  • Matthew Ryan Moore graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in economics and commerce. He is a graduate of Clover Hill High School and is the son of Ronald and Zofia Moore of Midlothian.
  • John Langdon Moss III graduated with a B.A. in English and a minor in rhetoric. He is a graduate of St. Christopher's School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Langdon Moss Jr. of Richmond.
  • Daniel Stuart Myers graduated with a B.S. in biology. He is a graduate of Mills E. Godwin High School and is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stuart P. Myers of Richmond.
  • Joshua Mike Parsley graduated with a B.A. in religion. He is a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and is the son of Mike and Yvonne Parsley of Ashland.
  • Robert Duval Shrader III graduated cum laude with a B.A. in political science. He is a graduate of Midlothian High School and is the son of Robert Shrader and Debra Prillaman of Midlothian.

  • Barrett Heartwell Tucker graduated with a B.A. in economics. He is a graduate of Midlothian High School and is the son of Bobby and Nancy Tucker of Richmond.
  • Brock Allen Ward graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce. He is a graduate of New Kent High School and is the son of Julian T. Ward Jr. and Debra Allen Ward, both of New Kent.
  • Paxton Alexander Whitmore graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce. He is a graduate of Midlothian High School and is the son of Barry and Debbie Whitmore of Midlothian.
  • Chad Andrew Zalesiak graduated with a B.A. in economics and commerce and political science. He is a graduate of Collegiate School and is the son of Nancy Zalesiak and Charles Zalesiak, both of Meadows.

    Hampden-Sydney College first enrolled students in 1775. A private men's college, it is known for its structured liberal arts curriculum, the Honor Code, a unique focus on the educational needs of young men, and a small and nurturing environment.
