Mother's Day Concert at Lewis Ginter Botanical Gardens
Take mom to smell the roses (and daffodils, tulips, and orchids!) at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. Catch the Mother's Day Concert at the Bloemendaal House featuring Glennroy Bailey playing smooth jazz. Bring lawn chairs and blankets, although no picnicking please. A free four-inch potted plant for the first 500 mothers and a free family photo from 1-2 p.m. in front of the Conservatory. Museum District's Mother's Day House and Garden Tour
Take your mom behind the doors of the beautiful homes in the Museum District with the Mother's Day House and Garden Tour. The tour opens nine homes and gardens, St. Benedict School and the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts, in the neighborhood around the VMFA; free parking in the museum's deck on Sheppard Street and free shuttle service among the sites. 1-6 p.m. $20 in advance, $25 day of tour, www.museumdistrict.org or 257-9622, option 2.
Mother's Day Tea & Tour at Virginia House
Guided tour of the great rooms at Virginia House followed by a walk through the gardens and tea on the terrace at Agecroft Hall and tour of the hall. Stay on for the Mother's Day Concert by the Richmond Concert Band. 3-5 p.m., 4301 Sulgrave Rd. $22.50-25, advance payment required, 252-4241.
