"I took this shot of the giant panda cub during our visit to the Chengdu, China, Panda Breeding and Research Center on May 5," Tyler says. "That was seven days before the disastrous earthquake that hit Chengdu and Sichuan province. Fortunately for us, we left Sichuan province on May 10, two days before the earthquake hit." The Panda Center, which combined natural scenery and man-made landscapes to create living areas for the giant pandas, suffered damage. The cub shown in the photo, along with the other cubs, was moved to Beijing, where they will be on display during the Summer Olympics beginning Aug. 8.
