Mr. and Mrs. Michael Goodwyn of Powhatan, Virginia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Miss Jane Michelle Goodwyn of Powhatan, to Matthew Lowery Baltz of Chesterfield, Virginia, son of Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Baltz, also of Chesterfield.

The bride-to-be is the granddaughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Lester, and Mr. and Mrs. N.B. Goodwyn, all of Powhatan. The groom-to-be is the grandson of the late Mr. Linwood Hayes Jr. and Estalene Roberts of Richmond, Virginia, and Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Baltz of Chesterfield.

Miss Goodwyn is a graduate of Blessed Sacrament Huguenot High School and received her Bachelor of Arts degree in History from Longwood University. She is employed with Apple Spice Junction Catering in Richmond. Mr. Baltz is a graduate of Monacan High School and John Tyler Community College, where he received an associate's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He is employed as a Systems Administrator with ColorTree of Virginia Inc. in Richmond.

An October 2008 wedding is planned.
