Mrs. Cora Early of Lewiston, N.C., announces the engagement of her daughter, Miss Harriett Simmons Early, to Stuart Norris Chamberlain, both of Powell's Point, N.C., son of Mr. Norris Chamberlain Jr. and Ms. Patricia C. Chamberlain, both of Richmond.

Miss Early is the daughter of the late James Early II. She is the granddaughter of Mr. Burges Urquhart IV of Lewiston, N.C., and the late Mrs. Carol O. Urquhart, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Watson Early Sr. of Aulander, N.C. She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Mr. Chamberlain is the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. S.M. Carbaugh of Richmond, and Mr. and Mrs. Norris Chamberlain Sr. of Reedville, Va. He is a graduate of Virginia Tech.

An October 11 wedding is planned.
