Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Cox Jr. of Mechanicsville announce the engagement of their daughter, Ms. Kari Marie Cox of Sandston, to Adam Ray Phlegar of Richmond, son of Mr. and Mrs. Alan R. Phlegar of Vinton, Va.

Ms. Cox and Mr. Phlegar are graduates of Randolph-Macon College. She received her bachelor's degree in Chemistry and is pursuing a master's in Education while employed as a chemistry teacher with Hanover County Public Schools. He received his bachelor's degree in Religious Studies and Music and is pursuing his master's at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Richmond while employed with Goochland Baptist Church.

An August 16, 2008 wedding is planned. The couple will live in Sandston.
