The marriage of Miss Eleanor Windsor Jones of Richmond, Va., to James Andrew Betts Jr. of Raleigh, N.C., took place in a candlelight service the evening of Saturday, December 29, 2007, at St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in Richmond. The Reverend David T. Anderson of St. Stephen's and the Reverend Arthur Ross III of White Memorial Presbyterian Church in Raleigh officiated.
The bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage by her parents, is the daughter of Gretchen Lynn Buis and Hamill Dice Jones Jr. of Richmond, and the granddaughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. L. James Buis and the late Mr. and Mrs. Hamill Dice Jones. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Andrew Betts of Raleigh, and the grandson of Mrs. Mary Casey Lloyd of Kinston, N.C., and the late Mr. Norman Frederick Casey, and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Sylvester Betts of Charlotte, N.C.
Mrs. Lea Schon Rasmussen of Richmond was matron of honor. Miss Vjolca Thalia Bollettino of West Caldwell, N.J.; Miss Lindsay Erin Mock of San Francisco, Calif.; and Miss Tiffany Ann Quinn of Denver, Colo., were maids of honor. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Lauren Peterson Betts of Charleston, S.C.; Mrs. Megan Stidham Buis of Swansboro, N.C.; Miss Jane Ann Coleman of Richmond, Va.; Miss Mary Casey O'Dell of New York, N.Y.; Mrs. Laura Acton Patton of Charlotte, N.C.; Miss Jesse Peyton Thompson of Richmond, Va.; Miss Susan Scott Thompson of San Francisco, Calif.; and Miss Whitney Ransome Dunlap of Manhattan Beach, Calif.
Mr. Betts served as his son's best man. Groomsmen were Preston Bradford Betts of Charleston, S.C.; Tyler Chapman Betts of Raleigh, N.C.; Benjamin Bruce Betts of Columbia, S.C.; John Errett Buis of Swansboro, N.C.; Dexter McPherson Campbell III of Raleigh, N.C.; Paul Wesley Daniel of Winston-Salem, N.C.; John Anderson Fagg Jr. of Charlotte, N.C.; Hamill Dice Jones III of Richmond, Va.; Brian Merritt Lewis of Atlanta, Ga.; Jeffrey Paul Michaels of Raleigh, N.C.; and William Garner White V of Washington, D.C.
The flower girl and ring bearer were Addie Whitman Wood and Thomas Frost Wood of Richmond. Brown Farinholt served as crucifer. The bride's brother, Hamill Dice Jones III, served as reader. Musical directors and organists were Mr. James A. Dorn and Mr. Michael Simpson. Soloist was Mr. Wesley Pollard. Music for the service was provided by a brass quintet and Miss Lucinda Marvin, violinist.
The rehearsal dinner, hosted by the groom's parents, was held at the Commonwealth Club. The wedding reception, hosted by the bride's parents, was held at The Country Club of Virginia.
After a wedding trip to Jamaica, the couple now reside in Raleigh, N.C.
