Over the weekend, Richmond's off-kilter bluegrass/jug-band scooped up a Herald Angels Award. Definitely a keeper for the mantle. . . . Maxwell, who is sporting a close-cropped 'do these days, hasn't toured in six years but will hit the road for a 24-city date starting Oct. 8 in Boston. A Nov. 15 date for Richmond is penciled in but hasn't been officially announced. . . . This Sunday and Monday, the annual Jerry Lewis telethon will air on WRIC (Channel 8). Artists slated to perform include 3 Doors Down, Bo Bice, Tracy Lawrence and Gloria Gaynor . . . . This year's MTV Video Music Awards -- airing live from Los Angeles on Sept. 7 -- will not offer an attempted performance from Britney Spears but will turn the stage over to Rihanna, Pink, Paramore, Jonas Brothers, Kid Rock and T.I. . . . Another Spice-lette is on the way. Spice Girl Melanie C. ("Sporty" Spice) announced she's expecting a baby with longtime partner Thomas Starr.
