Christina Feerick has worked at WRIC for four years and will replace Lisa Schaffner in evening broadcasts.
Christina Feerick will swap mornings for nights as the newly named co-anchor for three weekday newscasts on WRIC-Channel 8.
Feerick, who has anchored "Good Morning Richmond Weekdays" for two years, will join Juan Conde for the 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. shows starting Sept. 15.
She replaces Lisa Schaffner, who announced last week that after a 20-year career at WRIC, she is leaving the station in mid-September to work as director of public relations and marketing at UNOS.
Feerick has worked at WRIC for four years, and before that, six years at WWBT-Channel 12.
"I think our station and our viewers are very fortunate that we have a number of people on staff who are knowledgeable and ready [to anchor]," said WRIC's general manager, Bob Peterson. "Christina was a perfect choice for us. She's well-rounded and knows the market."
Peterson said no major changes will be made to the newscasts, with the exception of making Conde a full co-anchor of the 4:30 p.m. show with Feerick. Previously, Schaffner anchored that newscast, with Conde providing live teases for the 6 p.m. show.
"I want to get Christina and Juan comfortable working together," Peterson said, "and the way to do that is to keep them working together every opportunity we have."
