Prepare for Restaurant Week, the annual event that benefits the Central Virginia Foodbank.

The promotion runs Oct. 27-Nov. 2, and the deal is similar to years past: For $25.08 (the .08 is in reference to the year), you'll get a three-course meal, with $2.08 of every meal benefiting the foodbank.

This year's participating restaurants are: Acacia, Bacchus, Caliente, DeLux Diner & Lounge, Europa Italian Café & Tapas Bar, Helen's, Hondos at Innsbrook, Julep's New Southern Cuisine, La Grotta, Michelle's at Hanover Tavern, Rowland Fine Dining, Sam Miller's, Six Burner, The Hard Shell, The Hill Café, TJ's in The Jefferson, Millie's Diner, Twenty-Seven, Zed Café and Zeus Gallery Café.

Call the individual restaurant to make a reservation -- and trust us, you'll want to make one.

. . .

Legend Brewing Company (321 W. Seventh St.)has unveiled its Oktoberfest menu for the month of October (and its popular Oktoberfest lager is also available now).

Selections include Bavarian Sauerbraten; Oktoberfest Strudel (thinly sliced Usinger bratwurst wrapped with sauerkraut and apples, then drizzled with a mustard sauce and baked in a puff pastry); and the Munich Platter (a grilled Usinger bratwurst or andoullie, served on a warm soft pretzel with sauerkraut, honey mustard and spicy mustard), among the seasonal offerings.

. . .

Helen's (2527 W. Main St.) also has a fall menu to sample. Demi courses are now available, either as appetizers or tapas.

Some choices are Cajun Fried Frog Legs with red beans, rice and remoulade; Iron Skillet Fried Green Tomatoes with Laura Chenel goat cheese, baby arugula and a sherry vinegar reduction; and Grilled Portabella Mushroom with red pepper polenta and a Calabrese salad.

. . .

If you're in need of a boxed lunch, you can now order sandwiches, wraps, salads, sides and desserts for delivery from Cary St. Café (2631 W. Cary St.).

There is a minimum of eight boxed lunches. Orders can be placed at www.carystreetcafe.com, by calling (804) 353-7445 or by faxing (804) 353-7448.

. . .

Six Burner (1627 W. Main St.) will hold an all-inclusive wine dinner for $90 at 6:30 p.m. Sunday.

Menu selections include sweet onion soup with pancetta and walnut oil; gnocchi, escargots and wild mushroom ragout; and monkfish with artichoke purée, fennel and olive and citrus salad.

For details, visit www.sixburner.net or call (804) 353-4060.

. . .

Diners who frequent the Bottoms Up Pizza in Shockoe Bottom probably realized that the free parking lot behind Have a Nice Day Cafe is no longer available to customers.

Instead, you can park in the new lot on Cary Street, between 15th and 17th streets (where the old dirt parking area used to be). The first hour is free and then $1 for every hour thereafter.

. . .

The Saxby's Coffee in Short Pump Station now has drive-through service available.
