Fans of Café Caturra now have a third location to enjoy.

The spot at 5811 Grove Ave., most recently home to Luna Grove, is the new home of the café whose motto is, "Coffee by day, wines by night, fresh food all day."

Open two weeks today, this Café Caturra -- the other two are in Chesterfield County offers a cozy setting with a fireplace and front and back patios (the back one is also pooch friendly).

Along with 24 wines on tap -- complimentary tastings are available -- the café serves breakfast daily until 11 a.m. and then presents a menu of sandwiches, wraps, salads and paninis through closing (9 p.m. Monday-Thursday and Sunday; 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday).

Management says it will also soon offer cheese plates at night, as well as fresh baguettes and the ability to build your own bruchetta.

The Café Caturra trio has a Web site -- www.caturracoffee.com -- but it doesn't offer many details yet.

. . .

Students and downtown workers will soon have access to the rare chain restaurant in the area.

VCU's new Cary & Belvidere Residential College, a $43.7 million, 408-bedroom dormitory on the corner of those two streets, is opening a Chili's on Sept. 17.

The retail section of the school also boasts a Starbucks, which arrived two weeks ago, and Cary Street Market and Deli, which opened its doors earlier this week.

. . .

The folks at Curated Culture, who make First Fridays happen every month, have teamed with 11 Richmond restaurants to raise money.

Until Sept. 27, each restaurant will create an ARTini -- a martini featuring Richmond-made Cirrus Vodka -- and donate $1 from each sale to Curated Culture.

Participating restaurants are: Avenue 805; Can Can Brassiere; Cabo's Corner Bistro; Down Under Café; Helen's; Julep's New Southern Cuisine; Kitchen 64; Lucky Buddha; Nile Ethiopian Restaurant; Rendezvous Restaurant/Lounge; and The White Dog.

. . .

Speaking of Rendezvous, if you've wondered about that building at 17 W. Broad St. between Adams and Foushee streets, that's it.

The restaurant/lounge area has been in business for several weeks, serving "New American Cuisine."

Head chef Michael Bates, who has worked at the Jefferson and Omni hotels, among other places, has crafted a menu featuring "comfort food from all over the world."

An adjoining club is under construction, with tentative plans to open next month. Bates says he'd like to be ready in time to host a masquerade party for Halloween. He says the club will be upscale, with an adult atmosphere and music ranging from Latin to jazz to calypso.

The restaurant is open from 11 a.m.-11 p.m. Monday-Thursday and 11 a.m.-2 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Check out its Web site at www.rendezvousva.com.

. . .

Tastebuds has reopened in its new location at 4019 MacArthur Ave.

A seasonal menu is available for perusal at www.tastebudsamericanbistro.com; the restaurant is open for dinner beginning at 5 p.m.

. . .

Not every Dairy Queen Blizzard of the Month flavor is worth mentioning, but this one is: Banana Cream Pie.
