If you can play a musical instrument, the Richmond Symphony invites you to "Come & Play."

It's the second annual special event supporting music education in Richmond Public Schools. Instrumentalists are invited to join the orchestra's associate conductor Erin Freeman and members of the orchestra to make some music.

The event will be Sunday, Nov. 2 at the Alltel Pavilion at the Siegel Center at Virginia Commonwealth University. Rehearsal will be from 2:30 to 5 p.m. with a free concert at 6 p.m.

Cost is $10 for those 22 or older and $5 for those 22 and younger. Event proceeds will be used for student instrument purchase and repair.

A list of music to be played and restrictions on certain instruments, along with a registration form, are available on the Richmond Symphony Web site at www.richmondsymphony.com. Applications are available for download and must be sent to the symphony's offices by Saturday.-- Walt Amacker
