Thirteen films selected as finalists in the Virginia Film Competition will be screened Saturday at the Byrd Theatre during the Virginia Independent Film Festival.
The festival, sponsored by the Virginia Film Office and the Virginia Production Alliance, will feature films selected during a preliminary round of judging in the categories of short films, documentaries and feature films.
Documentaries will be screened from 10 a.m. to noon; short films, from 12:30 to 2:30 p.m.; and feature films, from 3 to 6:15 p.m.
A question-and-answer session with the filmmakers will be held at the end of each series, after which winners will be announced.
Admission for a series is $5; a full-day pass costs $10.
The winner of the short film category will receive $250. The other winners will receive $500.
