The Henley Street Theatre Company is presenting "The Seagull" by Anton Chekov beginning Thursday and running through May 31. Performances will be at the Pine Camp Arts and Community Center, 4901 Old Brook Road. Tickets are $20; $15 for seniors and students. Thursday night's premiere performance will have a special price of $10 per ticket, with all proceeds going to Liz Marks, a familiar actress, producer and casting agent in Richmond for decades. Marks has been fighting cancer for years and is in need of money to supplement payment of medical bills which insurance does not cover.

The Theater Company at Fort Lee will present "The Pajama Game" Friday through May 25 at the Lee Playhouse, 4300 Mahone Ave., Fort Lee.

The show revolves around a group of working-class Americans in 1954 who are involved in a labor dispute at the Sleep Tite Pajama Factory in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and features such hit songs as "Hey There," "Hernando's Hideaway," and "Steam Heat."

A 24-member cast features Ryan Imirie, Andrea Clark, Michael White, Jenny Fralin, Joe Houser, Greg Frazee and Ema Traylor. Production director is Amy Perdue, with musical direction by Dee Lynch and set design by Ken Summer.

Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for persons 16 and younger. Group rates are available for 12 or more. For reservations and other information call (804) 734-6629.

The Firehouse Theatre Project continues the final production of its season with The Firehouse Theatre Cabaret running through May 17. Performances are at the company's venue at 1609 W. Broad St.

Directed by and featuring Scott Wichmann, the production features an evening of 10-minute plays in an intimate cabaret setting with jazz music provided during intervals.

The project also features Alia Bisharat, Jude Fageas and Lisa Kotula. Wichmann was featured in the role of "Taxi" in "The Late Henry Moss" in the company's most recent production.

Among the plays being presented are:

  • "Clowning Around" by Jamie Brandi, in which two women compete for a job neither wants, but both desperately need.
  • "Isabelle" by Ellen Melaver, where a man projects his old dreams onto his ex-girlfriend's new life.
  • "The Award" by Jeffrey Sweet, in which a scientist's trophy becomes a catalyst for revenge.

    Tickets are $25, $23 for seniors and $10 for students with a valid ID. Tickets can be purchased by calling (800) 595-4849 or on the Web at firehousetheatre.org.

    The Stable Theatre will present the first Richmond performance of "Athalia" by French playwright Jean Racine. Five performances will be given May 14-18 at the theater, which is located at Christ Presbyterian Church, 2508 Dickens Road.

    Henrico Theatre Company continues its run of "Breakfast With Les and Bess" by Lee Kalcheim at the Cultural Arts Center of Glen Allen, 2880 Mountain Road.
