Joan Osborne hasn't been high in the public's consciousness since her breakthrough hit, "One of Us," struck in 1995.

But the bluesy pop singer with the formidable pipes has cranked out four subsequent studio albums that are potent even if they didn't achieve mainstream success.

Catch Osborne at Toad's Place at 7 p.m. Sept. 30. Tickets are $25 for general admission and $35 for gold circle seating.

Also new to the Toad's calendar:

  • Mos Def and his political rap come to town at 8 p.m. Aug. 7. Tickets are $27.50.

  • The Reverend Horton Heat brings its alt rock/rockabilly, also known as psychobilly, at 8 p.m. Nov. 7. Tickets are $20 in advance and $22 the day of show.

Tickets to all shows are on sale at 10 a.m. today and can be purchased at www.toadsplacerva.com, (800) 514-3849, the venue box office, and Plan 9 and BK Music locations. - Melissa Ruggieri
