The marriage of Miss Christy Lynn Spain of Hilton Head Island, S.C., daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Warren Lynn Spain of Dinwiddie, Va., to Joshua Rhoads Johnson, also of Hilton Head Island, son of Dr. and Mrs. James Keith Johnson of Dinwiddie, took place Saturday, May 24, 2008, at the Cannon Memorial Chapel at the University of Richmond. The Reverend Thomas Lewis officiated.

The bride is the granddaughter of Mrs. Frances Denny and the late James M. Denny of Petersburg, Va., and Mrs. Linda Spain and the late Warren Spain of Colonial Heights. The groom is the grandson of Mr. Calvin R. Johnson and the late Mildred Johnson of Petersburg, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harold B. Elder of McKenney, Va.

The bride, escorted by her father, wore a strapless ball gown of ivory duchess satin that featured a pleated bustline adorned with crystal beading. The chapel length train fell from a pleated back and bustle adorned with crystals. The cathedral length veil was edged with crystals and fell from a scalloped tiara.

Miss Ali Casalbore of Hilton Head Island was the maid of honor. Bridesmaids were Addison Goss, Simone Bruderer and Penny Malphrus, all of Hilton Head, and Kelly Flynn of Richmond, all friends of the bride.

Mr. Jacob Johnson, brother of the groom, was the best man. Groomsmen were Steven Long of Kentucky, Brian Delfino of New Jersey, and Julian Kurland of London, England, all friends from college, and Nick Casalbore and Carl Casalbore Jr., friends of the groom from Hilton Head.

Readers were Carl Casalbore Sr., friend of the bride and groom, and Edward Dyson, cousin of the groom. Miss Martha Burton and Mrs. Margaret Greene, friends of the bride and groom were mistresses of ceremonies. Following the ceremony, a reception was held at The Country Club of Virginia.

Prior to the wedding, the couple was honored by friends and family with many parties. Bridal showers were given by Margaret Greene, Ali Casalbore and Lindsey Denny. A cocktail party was hosted by Mrs. Marne Jones, and the bride's luncheon was given by Martha Burton and Susan Butterworth. On Friday, May 23, a rehearsal dinner was held at The Country Club of Virginia.

After a honeymoon to the Cove on Paradise Island, the couple will reside on Hilton Head Island, S.C.
