Scrapbooking recognized nationally
Memories Galore and Tabitha Geary to host local events

Scrapbooking and craft stores across the country will celebrate National Scrapbooking Day tomorrow.

In Richmond, it will be more like national scrapbooking weekend at Memories Galore's two locations, 4800 Market Square Lane in Brandermill and 3991 Deep Rock Road in western Henrico.

Activities will start today with "Crop Around the Clock" sessions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and then overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. "Crop Around the Clock" continues tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., overnight from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.

Memories Galore will offer special sales and gifts with purchases. "This is our day," said co-owner Angela Allen, "so we want to make a big deal out of it."

Tabitha Geary, 506 Libbie Ave., is not open on weekends. However, in honor of National Scrapbooking Day, the shop will offer 20 percent off archiving services for vintage scrapbooks next Monday through Friday.

"We get a lot of beautiful old books in here," owner Tabitha Geary said. "It is a privilege to see them and archive them for future generations."
